Hi Tina,
It depends really where abouts at the top of his leg it is... I had really bad pain at the top of my left leg and my Dad who is a GP said it was my hip joint. I think the best thing would to get him checked out with the rheumy or someone who knows what's what!Smile

Hi Tina,

I get a lot of leg pain that is muscular in nature and my legs can ache for days at a time. It usually happens if I've overdone it and goes away with loads of rest. I don't know the science behind it but I can surely sympathise with Dan x x

Hi Tina, I get the same, and think its mainly muscular and yes, goes away after loads of rest!! Has he been doing more active things lately? If not sure though, then yes, definitely see gp. Take care

Hi Tina

Daniel could be about to go through a growth spurt. Often the hormones start to increase making children lethargic, tired, achy and restless. Then they shoot up a few inches. I had this with all three of my boys and after the spurt they seemed to settle down quickly until the next time Smile. Daniel is about the right age for this to happen so perhaps nothing to worry about. But if it continues for long I would just get it checked to be sure it's nothing more sinister.

Hope he feels better soon.

thanks guys it helps knowing it nothing series, i have told him you have to slow down or live with the pain lad your choice, you cant really get an 11 year old boy who loves athletics to slow down but he has to understand what happens at the end.
Well for the past 2 times he had methtrexate he has been vomiting and even the day after as well thought we had got rid of this but as seemed to come back.

Tina - if the MTX is making him sick, ask if he can try the injectable type. I am on this now and all the horrid sickness has gone. Just a thought but may be worth a try.
Lots of love

Hi Tina,

Sorry your Daniel has RA so young to have this awful disease, I too have overdone things recently and my legs at the front were the same, what a job I had getting down and up again, I work in a school and struggled yesterday. I would get him checked to be sure thats all it is. Take care Lorna xx

Good, Tina. They have certainly taken away all my sickness and I am starting to feel "human" again.
Love to you all

Hi Tina,

I will pray that the bloods are lower this time- it is such a worry for you. I would try the injections too- they will help with the sickness which is just SUCH a nuisance!

Try some real ginger or foods with ginger in them for Daniel...and chamomile tea (with honey) is quite good for sore throats and also sickness. (He may not like that though!).

Love,

Amanda

Hi Tina,

It's difficult to answer that! Quite often the level comes down with a lower dose of mtx , which can then be increased without the ALT being raised again. But there's also a chance that it will come down on the decreased dose and then go up again so the only way to tell is with regular blood tests like they are doing.
I hope it comes down and stays down for Dan.

Love, Doreen xx
